La Mesa Ecopark, Quezon City, NCR
Bird Finder Philippines joined Haring Ibon, Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines - WBPP, Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, and digital content creators this morning in a walkthrough of the La Mesa Ecopark (LMEP) in Quezon City.
The newly rehabilitated phase 1 of LMEP which includes the new picnic area and huts, view deck, Eco Academy Hall, wall climbing & paintball areas, and food park will be reopened to the public tomorrow (29 June) afternoon. The main park (phase 2) and Nature Trail (phase 3) are still under rehabilitation. LMEP particularly the Nature Trail is a haven for birds and wildlife in a bustling metropolis and is a go-to for many birders in Metro Manila. Despite the limited access and limited time, our small group of birders and bird photographers were able to record 25 bird species in just 2 hours.
La Mesa Ecopark is a partnership among MWSS, the Quezon City Government, and Manila Water Company. The stewardship and management of the La Mesa Ecopark is now led by Manila Water Foundation.
